What to wear for Halloween

We are currently experiencing an Indian summer right now in many parts of the UK and even though October is nearly upon us, we are enjoying the autumn sunshine … while it lasts.

It’s crazy to think that with October approaching, we need to think about events such as Halloween and, dare we say it, Christmas … but you’d be surprised at how quickly they come around. Don’t let the sunshine fool you!

So for those of you who are super organised, we thought it would be a good idea to talk about Halloween costumes. What’s hot (and what’s not), what costumes are easy to make and where to find something a little more … unusual.

Popular Costumes

We talked earlier this month about Halloween Party Ideas so make sure you have a read if you want to know how to throw a great Halloween party. Of course, Halloween costumes aren’t just for children and adults always love an excuse to dress up too!

Superheroes

OK, so there’s nothing particularly scary about superheroes (unless you go as The Joker), but it’s the type of costume that every member of the family can wear – in fact, why not go as superhero family The Incredibles?

Angel/Devil

You can’t go wrong with a devil costume – it’s easy to find online and if you didn’t want to wear the whole costume, you could just wear a pair of devil horns! But why not go as the devil’s adversary … an angel!  And if you’re really up for a challenge, there’s nothing scarier than the Weeping Angel character from Dr Who!

Unusual Halloween Costumes

Unusual Halloween costumes we’ve come across on the internet so far have included: an Oompa Loompa, a Headless Horseman and even Walter White from Breaking Bad! When it comes to Halloween, there really is no limit to what you can wear, the only limit is your imagination.

 Scary Make-Up

If you want to try putting some scary make-up on, but you’re not sure how, there are 100’s of tutorials on YouTube to watch. Just press play, pause whenever needed and hey presto, you’re now Frankenstein, Dracula or just a regular zombie.

How to Stand Out

All of these costumes stand out in their own right but when you go trick or treating, bear in mind that it is dark outside at that time of year and sometimes all your hard work goes to waste when no-one can see you. However, a great way to light up your costume is to wear one of our flashing Halloween banners! They’re really reasonably priced (check out our website for more details) and you could wear one of our Halloween banners either inside or outside of your costume.

And if all else fails, just cut two holes in a white sheet and go as a ghost!

We hope we’ve given you some ideas of what to wear at Halloween, and we hope you have an amazing time, whatever you choose.
